About This Connect Four
The opponent here is not a random mover. It runs a minimax search with alpha-beta pruning over the full seven-column board, evaluating every position by how many open threes, open twos and centre column discs each side controls. On Hard it looks seven plies ahead, which is enough to punish a single careless move.
That said, Connect Four is a solved game — with perfect play the first player wins by dropping in the centre column. The AI plays strongly but not perfectly, so it stays beatable while still making you think.
